Lexington Furniture: Is it Good Quality?
Lexington Furniture company has been in business for a very long time. Today, the company still produces furniture of good quality.
To learn more about this vintage company, watch the video below:
As you likely learned, Lexington Furniture Company has a rich and unique history.
While Lexington offers a nice product at a decent price point, customers still may wonder if the furniture has the quality you may be looking for.
Essentially, Lexington furniture features solid wood furniture. Most of their items feature cherry or oak woods. Additionally, the hardware and hinges typically feature solid brass. So, with these types of materials, furniture has a better chance of longevity.
Additionally, while furniture by Lexington is mass-produced, it still shows good craftsmanship. For instance, you will find dovetailed drawers in bedroom furniture. You also will notice that the legs and parts of Lexington dining tables are pined together with dowels.
Again, these features demonstrate quality craftsmanship and help enhance the quality and longevity of furniture.
The case furniture from Lexington Furniture has shown excellent quality, in my opinion.
All in all, Lexington Furniture shows good quality. Although not generally considered fine furniture, Lexington offers a good quality product on the market today.
Is Lexington Furniture Made in the USA?
Lexington Furniture makes most of their products in the USA. However, like many furniture companies, the company offers both domestically produced furniture and items from overseas.
Sadly, most furniture companies have to produce a certain amount of parts and furniture items in foreign countries. Largely, in order to offer a competitive price point, certain items in the Lexington Furniture Catalog come from overseas.
However, by in large, Lexington’s products still originate in their North Carolina factories. Additionally, the company attempts to offer a sustainable product. They replenish the forests by planting new trees regularly.
So, if you want to purchase American Made goods, you should always ask your retailer. Some items made by Lexington still are made in the USA. Others may not be wholly produced domestically.
Discontinued Lexington Furniture
Discontinued Lexington Furniture may offer more of what you like, in terms of style. Vintage Lexington Furniture often features more traditional designs. So, for instance you may find Colonial Style furniture, or items with Chippendale or Federal features.
Throughout the 20th century, Furniture companies produced traditional furniture lines that appealed to the masses. Lexington Furniture Company was no different.
So, for instance, Queen Anne legs, elegant Chippendale pieces and Early American style furniture lines were common in discontinued Lexington Furniture.
So, if you love traditional furniture, consider Lexington Furniture products. No doubt these items offer a great price option too.
Ideally, you should preview vintage furniture in person. After all, vintage furniture can suffer if not properly cared for.
However, if you cannot make the trip to the vintage furniture store, you should review all photos of the item. Additionally, if you have concerns about the condition, try to call or email the vendor.
Lexington Furniture Reviews
In writing this article, I read several different reviews of Lexington Furniture.
From my own experience, vintage Lexington Furniture was usually stylish, well made and practical.
However, I did read a few Lexington Furniture reviews that were not wholly positive. Some complained of shoddy upholstery. Others had disappointing experiences with upholstered Lexington sofas, chairs and ottomans.
On the other hand, most of the Lexington Furniture reviews that mentioned case furniture (dressers, tables, secretary desks) were extremely happy. One reviewer mentioned their furniture “built like a tank.” Another wrote that the dressers last for years, even with heavy use. Finally, another person mentioned the durable finish.
So, while a few people had complaints about upholstered goods, most people gave Lexington Furniture glowing reviews.
Overall, I would recommend both vintage and modern Lexington pieces for any family home.
