Jasper Furniture Secretaries
Primarily, Jasper Furniture Secretaries continue to hold their value today. The company made dozens of versions of secretary desks for the mid to upper middle class market. Many of these showpieces had ornate interiors, fancy feet and drawer shapes, beautiful glass tops and ornate details that made them stand out.
Some Jasper Furniture Secretaries had very traditional styles. Indeed, many models used fine mahogany and mahogany veneers to mimic period Secretary desks. So, you may find Jasper Secretary desks with glass in the doors, serpentine drawers and ball and claw feet. These traditional secretary desks also had brass Chippendale style hardware and sometimes had a lighted top for extra effect.
On the other hand, Jasper also made many different models of secretary desks in painted finishes. Indeed, the company produced a very fine collection of Chinoiserie style secretary desks. Some featured black lacquered finishes with raised or hand-painted gold scenes. These lovely Asian style secretary desks make excellent statement pieces in fine homes.
Besides for these traditional style secretary desks, Jasper Furniture company also made some French Provincial style secretary desks. Popular in the 1960s and 1970s, these fine desks also had very fine elements. They may have either lighter wood finishes or painted finishes, and often have sweet details. Jasper Cabinet French provincial desks may have curved front drawers and top, and scalloped details in the drawers. These French Country style desks still have a place in homes today.
Jasper Furniture Curio Cabinet
Jasper Furniture Curio Cabinets also tend to turn up on the used furniture market today. After all, Jasper Furniture made tons of different styles of curio cabinets in the 1980s through the early 2000s.
In fact, curio cabinets by Jasper Cabinet Furniture were likely some of the best that money could buy back in this period. Many Jasper curio cabinets had very thick beveled glass shelves and very beautiful cases.
Trading on traditional and transitional styles, some models featured cherry or mahogany wood. Also, some had columns, traditional bracket feet or arched full bonnet tops. Additionally, Jasper made some curio cabinets in oak finishes to fit with country traditional styles.
Finally, a few Jasper cabinet display cabinets featured Oriental style designs. Like their corresponding collection of secretary desks and china cabinets, Jasper made several different size curio cabinets in this same Chinoiserie style.
Jasper Cabinet Value
Jasper Cabinet Furniture values can fluctuate like any other mid to high end market furniture company. As an established brand that had a long history, many people are somewhat familiar with the brand. Additionally, their two best selling products, secretary desks and curio cabinets, continue to have a good resale value on the market today.
For instance, a used Jasper Secretary desk usually sells for between $400 and $1500. Of course, this wide range accounts for the many different variables of used furniture. Style, condition and location all play major factors in furniture resale values. Obviously, a very fine ornate and grand secretary desk by Jasper with lots of carving or hand-painted detail will command a higher price than a simple secretary desk.
Likewise, a used Jasper curio cabinet can sell for between $400 and $1400. Again, a very simple oak curio cabinet may be valued at the lower part of this range. Meanwhile, a very fancy Jasper cabinet can really top the $1000 price point on the used furniture market.
