Many people ask us, Is Broyhill Furniture Good Quality?
The quick answer is no. Broyhill is not considered high quality furniture. But please, it is very ok for furniture that is functional and will look good in your home. It is modeled today after many expensive hand made furniture companies just with lesser or lower value components. Its not cardboard but not exactly collectible today, not considered heirloom quality furniture. At our vintage furniture store we call it “JOE” cause it suites every “JOE”. it does the job without being horrible like Ashely Furniture (cold but true).
Is Broyhill Furniture Good Quality?
Broyhill Furniture from the past actually demonstrates higher quality in some ways than the items you can find by Broyhill today. Previously, the company focused on the mid-market consumer. Therefore, they offered a decent quality product at a very good price point.
In vintage Broyhill Furniture, you will see relatively good construction techniques. Additionally, vintage Broyhill furniture often features solid wood in some places. Of course, sometimes, you will see pressed wood or lower grade woods on the backs of dressers. However, typically vintage Broyhill Furniture has solid cherry, maple and oak as their main ingredient.
Some discontinued Broyhill Furniture collections, like Broyhill Brasilia, have a devoted following today. Broyhill Brasilia was a very unique line by Broyhill that was produced in the 1950s and 1960s. Of course, you will find sculptural fronts, peg legs and very cool details of furniture from Broyhill Brasilia.
Indeed, this discontinued Broyhill Furniture Collection shows great quality as well, with mostly walnut and cherry wood. Many times, Broyhill Brasilia dressers feature dividers in the drawers and oak secondary wood.
However, today, much of the furniture stamped with the “Broyhill” name lacks these particular signs of quality. That said, with such an affordable price point, it is hard to complain about modern Broyhill furniture.
Broyhill Big Lots Furniture
Broyhill Big Lots Furniture features mostly upholstered furniture today. Indeed, much of the furniture offered at Big Lots Retail Stores is for the living room. Today, you can try both stationary and reclining furniture made by Broyhill.
The company offers many two piece loveseats, as well as sofas and sectionals by the Broyhill name. Honestly, the prices from Big Lots are great. You can purchase an entire room of living room furniture, complete with sofa, loveseat and accent chair for under $2000. Likewise, a large sectional sofa with two chaises can be priced right around $1300.
As far as quality, reviews are mixed. Many people originally write glowing reviews for their Broyhill living room furniture. However, after months to a year in of owning Broyhill sofas, a select few clients became disappointed.
Certain sticking points with clients include pilling fabric, small tears and very sagging foam. Of course, less people mentioned broken frames, so some of these issues could be considered minor.
On the other hand, fabric and foam quality matter greatly for longevity.
Of course, we all want to love the look of the furniture. Honestly, many of the items on Big Lots website have a modern look, with rolled arms, upholstery tacks and nice neutral colors.
However, once the “newness” has faded, some customers were disappointed with the overall quality.
Yet, with so many glowing reviews on living room sets, reclining chairs and sofas, Broyhill Big Lots Furniture still ranks high. So, for the affordable price, you may wish to give it a try.
Broyhill Outdoor Furniture
Broyhill also makes lines of Outdoor furniture. Big Lots, Wayfair and even Overstock offer different lines of Broyhill Outdoor Furniture for sale. Many of these lines feature traditional Wicker styles, updated with sleaker lines and more neutral cushions. Of course, they also make unique outdoor items, like Gazebos and umbrellas.
Additionally, Big Lots offers other accessories by Broyhill for outdoor living. You can find planters, outdoor poofs, pillows and even rugs.
Currently, Broyhill Bitmore Collection for outdoor living seems to have a great look and affordable price.
Is Broyhill Furniture Cheap?
With the line ending up at places like Big Lots and Wayfair, many people wonder if Broyhill Furniture is cheap. Frankly, yes, Broyhill Furniture prides itself on offering a well-priced, cheap product. Compared to other mid market stores, like Ashley Furniture and Value City, Broyhill typically comes under as far as price.
However, you may wonder, “is Broyhill Furniture cheap,” as in, is Broyhill Furniture bad quality?
This takes a little nuanced thought to answer. As far as what is offered in stores today, Broyhill does not seem to rank lower than other similarly priced or even slightly higher priced products.
That said, Broyhill Furniture made today is not heirloom furniture. Also, it is not fine furniture/ It is comfortable furniture that likely will last between 2 and 15 years. Most likely, it is not furniture you will pass down to your grandchildren. It simply does not have a 20+ year longevity.
